Genre: Historical Fiction/Romance
- Describe your book in 10 words or less. It’s a historical romance about life told in an artistic way.
- What made you want to write your book? It was a challenge and I wanted to stretch myself by telling it well.
- How long did it take you to write your book? About a year.
- How do you choose the names of your characters? I choose the names as I write, sometimes the name I have in mind sticks and sometimes I find it the further I go.
- What do you do when you have writer’s block? I usually go for a walk, try to get out of my head.
- What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why? The happy ending, because I like looking at the summaries of difficulties and small accomplishments as a big beautiful picture.
- If you were stuck on an island and had to have one person from each category with you, who would they be and why?
- One character from your book: Probably Jeremiah. His character has survived tougher situations.
- One fictional character: Aladdin’s genie
- One famous person: None that I can think of!
- Besides writing, what are your other interests? I love to read. I enjoy being on the water and paddle boarding. While I was writing the book, I was learning to scuba dive. I also love to hike and be outside.
- Do you keep a journal? No.
- How did you celebrate the publishing of your book? I celebrated with my friends and family.
- If your book was made into a movie, who would play the main characters? It would be challenging for me to cast my book because, to me, they all have their own faces.
- What did you enjoy most about working with Dorrance Publishing? Having the finished product.
- Five favorite books of all time? Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare, Though Waters Roar by Lynn Austin, The Tiger Rising by Kate DiCamillo.
- One sentence of advice for other writers? The most important thing is to enjoy your work; if you’re not having fun, take a break!
